Scope of the Session

We are continuosly facing an increase of the multi-disciplinary impact of Information Systems that is currently addressing various economical, social, and ecological/environmental issues. Sustainability is a complex concept that can be extremely useful to encompass all those heterogenous impacts of an Information System within a single definition - Sustainable Information System. However, research in this area is in a very early stage and more important, it still requires a very careful analysis in order to set it on clean scientific premises.
Thus, the main theme of this session is sustainable information systems. What can be the definition and challenges of sustainability of information systems?
This session aims to foster state-of-the-art research in the area of sustainable information systems and is expected to focus on all aspects of green computing technologies and to present novel results and solutions to solve the various problems and challenges in the interdisplanry areas. The target audience of this workshop includes academics, researchers, engineers, professionals working on the relevant topics in design profession, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, information systems, and the graduate students who wish to learn and spot potential research opportunities.

Instructions for Authors

The published papers are expected to present high quality material that illustrates the broad range of exciting work being carried out across the work in sustainable information systems. Accepted papers in this session will be included in the main conference proceedings, which will be published by Springer LNAI and indexed in ISI as a conference publication, in EI, Springerlink, Inspec and a number of other places. Extended versions of selected papers will be considered for publication in the KES Journal (International Journal of Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Engineering Systems) published by IOS Press. All papers must be original and of approximately 6-8 pages in length at the publication stage. All papers will be peer-reviewed by the international program committee, and may be accepted for oral presentation. A guide for authors, templates, and other relevant information for submitting papers are available on the Springer Information for LNCS Authors webpage (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-7-72376-0). Papers should be submitted online through the PROSE system. Detailed instructions on paper submission are provided at PROSE system.
